Coventry’s arrival at Arlington Stadium on Saturday (May 17) marks the start of a hectic spell for the Eastbourne Lifestyle Eagles.

They face a whole series of matches home and away which could be a defining point of their 2014 season.

As in 2013, the Eagles’ home form is fine but it is away from home where most of the concerns are.

Co-promoter and team manager Trevor Geer said, “We need to transfer our home form into what we do on away tracks.

“We have gone far too long without a win on the road.

“The tracks we are going to in the next few weeks are ones where we should do well and we need to get something out of these meetings.”

Geer said it was not necessarily a “make or break” period for the Eagles but away points were extremely high on his list of priorities.

“There are still plenty of meetings to go, so it is not make or break for us. However, I do want to get this run of away defeats off our backs,” he said.

Geer has drafted in former Eagle, Lewis Bridger, to take the place of Joonas Kylmakorpi for the Coventry match. Kylmakorpi is taking part in the first ever Finnish Speedway Grand Prix.

Geer said, “Lewis always goes well at Eastbourne. It seems to bring out the best in him.”

Eastbourne’s run of matches after Saturday is: May 21 – Birmingham (away) May 23 – Coventry (away) May 24 – Swindon (home)

May 26 – Wolverhampton (away) May 31 – Leicester (home) June 2 – Belle Vue (away) June 7 – Belle Vue (home)

Gates open at Arlington on Saturday at 6pm with the match getting under way at 7.30pm.
