CYCLE SPEEDWAY: Lions narrowly beat Swindon

ON a rain-soaked track last Sunday, Hellingly Lions narrowly beat Swindon by 92-87 points.

Hellingly raced into a early lead with a maximum 7-3 in heat one from David Boniface and Neil Hollebon, then Sam Craddock and Zac Parsons repeated the same in the following race and, by heat ten, had built up a 10-point lead.

Swindon hit back very strongly with heat leaders Harper and Hill leading the way. Hellingly’s Ben Granville and Jesse Moore both won races, with Glanville reaching his best score this season.

By heat 15, Swindon had clawed back to level at 75-75. Martyn Hollebon and Steve Archer put the Lions back in front with a vital 6-4 before Boniface and Moore sealed the victory for a very good round team performance.

Hellingly’s next match is on September 25 at home to Poole in the Lions’ last home fixture of the season.
