Have your say

SUMMER is here… and luckily it arrived when we were in Scotland! While you were paddling down south, we were basking in sunshine.

A 10-day lay-off from darts and I’ve recharged my batteries.

I’ve played once since returning home, and that was Superleague last week, where the Nomads were at home to Hastings.

I spent a while practising before I went on, and things weren’t looking too good.

When it came to my match, I felt confident but wasn’t going to let my opponent know that five minutes earlier I couldn’t hit a barn door!

We started and suddenly everything clicked into place.

I played a superb game, hitting a 30.67 average (92 per throw). This included eight missed darts at doubles, so could have been better still.

The team lost on the night, and we certainly aren’t competing for the title this season!

I have been volunteered by my little mate Justin Pipe to help organise a charity darts/speedway event to raise funds for the late Lee Richardson’s family.

I don’t have too much information at the moment – that will follow – but we are looking to hold it at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on the night before the British Speedway GP. This is all subject to confirmation but any speedway/darts fans, do try to be in Cardiff on Friday August 24, as a number of big names from both sports have promised to be there.

On the bike front, my wife and I cycled to Wessons Café in Horam on Saturday. We love the food there, and you get a great mix of people, and a superb menu too.

They are trying to win an award at the Sussex Food Awards at the moment, they are in the top 10 of Best Eating Experiences in the county, so if you’ve been there, why not vote for them at www.sussex foodawards.biz.

I always find it a great incentive to have a good café at the mid-point of a cycle ride… at least you don’t feel guilty about what you’ve just eaten!

So, back to darts, and next week sees the start of a Premier League-style event at Rileys in Hastings, then on Friday, Adi Gray and I are off to Derby to try to qualify for the next PDC European Tour event. To find out more about the speedway event, follow me on Twitter @metalhead180, or on Facebook where I hope to set up a page.
