Lewes continued their unbeaten start to the season in sensational style when they came from 2-0 down against the league leaders to draw with two goals in the last eight minutes.

The Rooks were trailing to Wealdstone goals scored by Chris Moore, on 26 minutes, and Tom Pett, nine minutes before the break.

But Garry Wilson’s men ensured they stretched their undefeated run to 11 in the league – and 12 in all competitions – with that late, remarkable comeback.

First, Fraser Logan poked the ball home at the second attempt on 82 minutes following an excellent cross from Ross Treleaven.

And then, in time added on at that end of the match, defender Jay Lovett fired a shot past Stones keeper Jonathan North to earn the visitors a dramatic draw.

There was still time for Treleaven to be sent off for an off the ball incident but that couldn’t dampen the spirits of Rooks fans both at Grosvenor Vale and following on social media.

Simon Everest (@WVFCommuter) said: “Fantastic come back from the mighty @Lewes_cfc tonight!!! 2-2 with a 90th min leveller!! #StillUnbeaten”

John O’Donoghue ‏(@JOD45) wrote: “Epic stuff! If you live in or near Lewes you’ve got to come and support this great team. #COYR”

And Russell Pilfold (@russellpilfold) enthused: “This is not the @Lewes_cfc that I’ve come to know. I like it!”

The draw saw Lewes move up one place in the Ryman Premier table to fifth.
