The best ever David Jordan Estate Agents Mince Pie 10 mile took place on Sunday, hosted by Seaford Striders, and starting and finishing at Peacehaven Leisure Centre.
Best because for the first time we had a full house before the race had even begun (450) and best because the weather really was in our favour this year.
Okay a north wind but it was dry and sunny but it is meant to be seasonal.
The course was six-mile off-road and four-mile on road the latter mile being the opposite way as the start.
The off-road parts take in the back of Peachaven, Telscoombe and Saltdean.
Runners came from all over the south and not many Striders were participating because most were helping on the course with marshalling.
The day resulted in a fine win for Louis Taub, of Brighton and Hove AC, in 63:25.
Second was Simon McMorran, of Isle of Wight Runners in 65:16, and third Simon Fletcher of Seaford Striders in 65:43.
For the ladies another win for Natasha Swan of Seaford Striders in 74:40.
Second was Sally Norris of Lewes AC in 76:46 and third was Joan Lennon from Steyning AC in 77:29.
Other Striders were: Joshaua Rudd (seventh in 1:08:44); Ryan Stewart (11th in 1:09:11); Adam Mansbridge (25th in 1:14:25); Lee Crane 204th on (1:34:57); Faye Didcote 303rd in 1:46:24; Claire Jenkins 311th in 1:47:45; and John Kinshott 330th in 1:51:41.
Thanks go to race directors Geoff Gray and Natalie McGreath who spent endless hours with the organisation, Peter Butler, Brighton Marathon, 42nd Brighton Scouts for the drinks station, St Johns Ambulance for the first aid, Sussex Sport Photography for the official race pictures, Sussex Sports Massage for aftercare, Saltdean United FC for use of water , Race Winning for race numbers.
Finally thanks goes to all the Seaford Striders for being marshalls and other tasks associated with the event. Charity wise at least £1,200 will be raised for Sussex Cancer Trust which will be presented in early 2013.
