Former Portsmouth – and Lewes FC – player Peter Gregory has made a dramatic return to the Championship after signing for Nottingham Forest.
The winger was offered a contract having undergone a trial with the club.
He joins their U21 Squad and will play in the U21 League 2 North. He has already played for them in the League with 2-0 win at Coventry City (see here for a match report on that game from the Nottingham Forest website http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/team/under21/matchreports.aspx).
He also played for the First Team in a Friendly against AFC Wimbledon which Forest won 3–2.
Gregory played in the Championship with Portsmouth at only just 18 and now hopes that he can break into the First team at Forest and repeat this.
The 20 year old said: “It’s been a long journey with ups and downs, but I knew I had the ability and it was just a case of keep on going. Forest is a huge club and I feel honoured to play for them.
“The opportunity is there and I will enjoy playing in the U21 League. If I can show what I can do then I feel I have a real chance to push on.”
Gregory was born in Eastbourne and as a young player played for Brighton & Hove Albion. He is also a former pupil of Heathfield Community College.
