It was a full on week for the Lewes Wanderers Cycling.
Monday saw Round 5 of the club’s Evening Ten Series, which incorporated the Tandem Championship.
This was won by the father and son team of Peter and Tom Baker in a mighty impressive time of 21:01. Rob Rollings was fastest club man on a solo bike, recording 21:37.
Moving onto Thursday and it was the opening round in the club’s annual Criterium Road Race Series.
This is the 48th running of the three race series and the club are very grateful for the continued sponsorship from the TriStore.com in Eastbourne. A full field of 50 riders took the start in Shortgate Lane, Laughton ably supported by Lewes’ team of marshals, helpers, and convoy of support vehicles and outriders.
The first sprint prime was taken by Josh Ibbetson of i-ride.co.uk, a talented rider who seemed to be tapping effortlessly off the front of the bunch. The race seemed to have no controlling team, with large teams such as road racing specialists Crawley Wheelers and some of the small teams all seeking to capitalise on any hesitation within the bunch.
