Hailsham made it two wins from two games in 2014, defeating Crawley and lifting themselves up to seventh in SLL Premier division on Saturday.

After last week’s plate victory, Hailsham were fired-up and produced some great attacking play from the whistle, seeing several shots go wide of the mark.

Hailsham’s first goal came courtesy of a penalty corner, Susie Smith striking at goal, with the deflection off the keeper converted by Sue Cable.

Hailsham continued to attack, with Smith nearly scoring, but it was Cable who scored a further two goals for her hat-trick, giving Hailsham a 3-0 lead at half time. After the restart, a re-energised Crawley turned the tables, winning and converting a well-stuck penalty corner. Hailsham faltered, allowing Crawley to dictate the pace and score a second goal.

Determined not to give up three points, Hailsham dug in and resisted further pressure until the final whistle.
