Hailsham Hockey Club shortly begins its 112th season, and is on the lookout for new members for its ladies’, men’s and junior teams.

The club’s Ladies 1st XI, having won promotion in 2012-3 to Sussex Premier league, fought well to finish 7th in 2013-4 ending the league season with a great 3-2 victory against Brighton and Hove Ladies 2s, and went on to later win the Ladies Sussex Plate.

The Men’s 1st XI played another solid season, with their place in Sussex Division 1 cemented with 6th place finish.

How the team will fare this season is unknown, with outstanding goalkeeper Matt Abson taking a year sabbatical in Australia, and a replacement yet to be found.

The Millers finished 4th in Sussex Development League (East) last season, buoyed by some good results including a 1-1 draw against eventual runaway league winners East Grinstead Badgers.

Starting on Wednesday 20th August at 7pm, the club are running three weekly hour-long adult training sessions at Hailsham Community College before resuming full training for adults and juniors on September 10th.

Anyone new or thinking of returning to hockey is welcome to come along, please contact Alison Headey by phone 07855 121511, email alison@alitram.co.uk or info@hailshamhockey.co.uk.
