The Poppy running event organised by TL Sports saw runners competing in three race distances.
The 17 Harriers mainly concentrated on the half marathon event held along the promenade in Bexhill.
This year saw a record entry of 700 runners which remembered those lost in the first world war and competitors had to contend with high winds and shingle thrown onto part of the exposed course by a previous high tide and therefore saw times a little down on initial expectations.
The race was won by Daniel Watt Tonbridge AC in 1h16m00s but Harriers saw some tremendous performances with the highlight being Liz Lumber’s very much deserved and popular overall ladies win in this race.
Others who had great runs were Lee Ashworth in 5th and Adi Elliott 10th with Paul Henderson and Alan Thornton also within the top 50 places.
Times and positions were: fifth Lee Ashworth 1h20m20s, 10th Adi Elliott 1h24m01s, 44th Paul Henderson 1h31m52s, 45th Alan Thornton 1h31m42s, 49th and first lady Liz Lumber 1h32m53s, 56th Graham Purdye 1h33m56s, 86th Nigel Gordon-Johnson 1h36m18s, 123rd Alex Plowman 1h39m19s, 150th Giles Bowmer 1h42m14s, 211th Rob Crouch 1h45m52s, 268th Ian Davis 1h49m11s, 269th Helen O’Sullivan 1h48m53s, 272nd
