Hellingly Lions cycle speedway team got their on and off 2014 season back on last Sunday when they raced to a first away victory of the season winning at Swindon by 99 points -80 points.
A very good solid display of team riding saw Hellingy take the lead with a 6-4 from Jesse Moore in heat 2 and Mickey Stretton followed by a 7-3 maximum from Martyn Hollebon and fast starting Dan Welch.
In heat 3, skipper Neil Hollebon won heat 4 for a shared heat but Swindon came back strong but Hellingly held on with a 4-point advantage after 9 races.
After the interval Hellingly scored another two maximun 7-3 wins from Ettiene Patel and Steve Archer to gradually pull away from Swindon...Hellingly coped well with two tac sub rides from the Robins and brought three needed league points back to sussex.
Final score Swindon 80. Hellingly 99.
