Hailsham Hornets were on flying form at the Atlantis Regional Chaser swimming gala, held in Horsham on Sunday 1st February.
The small team of five competed hard, at this level 2 meet, and came away with eight top three medals and much improved race times.
Our boys Senior Club Captain, Sam Avery (13), swam superbly in all four of the events he entered and gained three new personal best times. Sam sprinted to victory in the 50m Backstroke to win gold, and in the 200m Breaststroke he improved his race time by an amazing 10 seconds, to take the silver in a time of 3.03.85. Sam also finished 8th in the 100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley.
Strong swims from sixteen year old Nathan Pashler secured him a second place finish in the 400m Freestyle and third in the 200m Freestyle. Nathan also came 5th in the 100m Freestyle event.
Adelaide Barden (13) put in a powerful performance in the 50m Butterfly race, swimming a time that was just outside County level qualification.
Determined swims from Macy Ring (11) paid off when she gained a good personal best time in the 50m Freestyle event, finishing 14th place, in a time of 34.62. Macy also finished 14th in 200m Freestyle, 12th in 100m Backstroke and 11th in the 50m Backstroke races.
Milly Widdop (10) was on first-class form throughout the day, attaining three personal best times and medals across all strokes. She gained gold in the 100m Freestyle and 100 m Butterfly, in an improved race time of 1.26.19. Milly also stormed her way to take silver medals in the 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke events.
