Local motor racing star Jack Bartholomew is gearing up for a busy season. This year, Jack has joined Coles Racing, one of the top kart racing teams in the country, as their lead Junior Rotax driver.
He will be competing in the Euromax Championship in Belgium, Italy, England and France, as well as in the British Championship in Wigan, Cumbria, North Wales, Lincolnshire, Glasgow and Oxfordshire. Jack’s first major race this year was last month at the Three Sisters circuit in Wigan. It was a dress rehearsal for the first round of the British Championship which will take place there at Easter; therefore all the best drivers in the country were there, resulting in a grid of 46.
It was bitterly cold but Jack was in great form. He was determined to get on the podium, although he knew it would not be easy against such stiff competition. He did well in the heats which meant he started the final in fifth position on the grid and, after a very good start, he was in the lead before the end of the first lap and maintained his lead to win quite comfortably.
It was a great result which hopefully will be repeated at the first round of Euromax later in March.
Jack receives great support from Priory School where he is currently a Year 9 student.
