Lewes RFC has been chosen to supply the ball team for the two Rugby World Cup games at the American Express Community Stadium on 19 and 20 September.
The two pool games are South Africa v Japan on 19 September and USA v Samoa on 20 September.
Lewes is geographically the closest rugby club to the stadium.
Along with Lewes Priory School, the club will provide a team of five boys and five girls in the 15-16 age range.
Club Chair Nick Page “This is very exciting for everyone in the town, Lewes Priory School and at Lewes Rugby Club to be involved with this major world sporting event.
“It will be a fabulous opportunity and honour for the young people concerned who will have an unforgettable experience.”
The club submitted an application setting out the contribution that it has made to the local rugby community and why they should be chosen as a ball team for Rugby World Cup 2015.
The lucky young people will be right at the heart of the action at the Amex and will have an important role in helping to keep both matches flowing by collecting, replacing and delivering balls that have been passed or kicked off the field of play.
See www.rugbyworldcup.com/news/78845 for the official announcement.
Meanwhile Lewes Rugby Club is also hosting a Harlequins Rugby Camp on 23-24 July which is open to boys and girls aged 6-14.
The young people will get the chance to experience playing the Harlequins way as coached by Harlequins staff. More information on how to book can be seen at www.lewesrugby.com/news/quins-camp-july15/
