THE Lewes Ladies competed for the Club Captain’s prize on Wednesday June 27
Graham Forster, the Club Captain, was happy to be there to present prizes to Milli Fawssett, the day’s scratch winner with a score of 82 gross, and Pat Mullins, the day’s Stableford winner with 34 points.
On the Saturday (June 30) the men competed for the Hoggins Trophy.
The event was won by Tom Richardson with a nett 68; second was Peter Franklin with a nett 69, beating Trevor Gasson into third place on countback, also with a nett 69.
The Men’s Monthly medal of Sunday (July 1) saw Tom Hilton win with nett 66. Second was Martyn Williams with nett 66 and third was Andy James with nett 69 in Division 1. Division 2 was won by Geoff Murray with nett 71; second was Clive Richardson with nett 72 and third was Duncan Fisher with nett 73.
The Ladies Medal played on the same day was won by Mandy Hilton with nett 77 and second was Ellen Dunne with nett 78.
The Seniors Eclectic of June 26 was won by Derek Eager with 42 points and second was Brian Lloyd with 37 points.
Round 6 of the Seniors Page Trophy saw Tony Grainger with 37 points and second Peter Gibbons with 24 points.
The Summer Eclectic played on the same day was won by Mike Shepherd 32 points. Second was Kevin Shah with 29 points and third was Terry Ferber 29 points. And the eclectic played on the Tuesday of this week was won by Tom Hilton with 30 points, beating Paul Thompsett on countback, with James Dean third with 28 points.
On Sunday June 24, the golfers of Lewes GC took part in their annual club championships. The men’s scratch winner and club champion was Lawrie Tremlett retaining the Winter Cup that he won last year with scores of 71 and 73 for an overall 144. Second was Jon Williams with scores of 76 + 72 = 148 and third was Henry Hilton with scores of 78 + 72 = 150. Darren Clarke picked up a prize for the best AM round with a score of 75 and Steve Verth picked up a prize for the best PM round with a score of 73.
The Jubilee Salver awarded for the best stableford rounds of the day was won by Tom Hilton with scores of 39 points + 33 points = 72 points. Second was Andrew Fuller with scores of 36 points + 34 points = 70 points and third was Tom Richardson with scores of 32 points + 36 points = 68 points. James Dean picked up a prize for the best AM round with a score of 33 points and AJ Boyse picked up a prize for the best PM round with a score of 35 points.
The Ladies Club champion was a repeat of last year with Joan Raffety winning the Goldring Bowl with scores of 92 + 88 = 180. Second was Amanda Quick with 92 + 93 = 185. Ellen Dunne picked up a prize for the best AM round with a score of 95 and Mandy Hilton picked up a prize for the best PM round with a score of 89.
The Kidson Jug was presented to the nett winner Sue Richardson with scores of 74 nett + 80 nett = 154 and second was Christine Robinson with scores of 74 nett + 83 nett = 157. Diana Mitchell picked up a prize for the best AM round with a score of 77 nett and Judy Keys picked up a prize for the best PM round with a score of 75 nett.
On Thursday June 21 the Lewes seniors played in their club championships and the winner on the day was Brian Duke with 51 points. Brian, who recently took up the sport again after many years farming, also earned himself a considerable handicap cut. Runner-up was Norman Parsons with 45 points and third was club captain Graham Forster with 41 points.
In other club news, Ladies Medal of June 13 was won by Mandy Hilton (nett 76) beating Diana Mitchell on countback. The Midweek Stableford of June 14 was won by Rob James with 42 points and second was Ian Thomas with 36 points.
The Saturday Medal of June 16 was won by Jonathon Wood with a nett 68; runner-up was Andrew Fuller with a nett 72 and third was Louis Osman with a nett 73. The Ladies Golf Foundation stableford was won by Mandy Hilton with 35 points and runner-up was Diana Mitchell with 34 points.
The Sunday Stableford of June 17 was won by Duncan Fisher with 41 points. Second was Jon Williams with 40 points and third was Sam Jones with 39 points.
The Summer Eclectic of June 12 was won by Joe Pearson with 30 points; Stewart Begbie was second with 28 points and third on countback was Kevin Shah. The competition seven days later was won by Mandy Hilton with 29 points. Second was Tom Richardson with 28 points, beating Sue Richardson on countback.
