Eastbourne overcame a strong challenge from Peterborough to win 50-45 at Arlington on Saturday night.

However, the visitors use of the double points tactical ride rule meant they kept the scores close enough to secure the bonus point.

After heat 10, the Lifestyle Eagles were 14 points in front but were thrown off course when Kenneth Bjerre and Michael Jepsen Jensen raced to a 5-1.

Wonder-kid Jensen did the trick again in the next race when he combined with Oliver Allen for a 5-1, which cut the home team’s lead to just three points.

Peterborough were very much a two-man outfit but Allen and Linus Sundstrom chipped in a couple of heat wins at vital times.

For Eastbourne, Simon Gustafsson was back from injury but suffering from a fever, causing him to miss his third programmed ride.

Tonight (Monday) the Eagles race at Belle Vue.
