Only two members of the Lewes Wanderers raced at the weekend, this was due to the unexpected cancellation of Saturday’s ten mile time trial.

However the two riders in question, Phil Allen and Mark Paton, flew the flag in style for the Lewes squad by putting in two storming performances.

Phil Allen is certainly flying this year and having set a ten mile Personal Best earlier in the week looked set to post a fast 25 mile time. Phil did not disappoint and sped round the fast Broadbridge Heath course in a rapid time of 53:51 which secured him second place in the overall standings.

Mark Paton made most of the warm still day by clocking up a fast time of 58:36. The overall winner of the Old Portlians event was the talented Steve Dennis of East Grinstead CC in a time of 52:22.
