Rooks go down to near neighbours Hawks

Lewes went down 3-1 at top-of-the-table Whitehawk.

Michael Malcolm, with his sixth goal in four games following his recent signing for the Hawks, opened the scoring two minutes before half time.

The hosts doubled their lead just before the hour mark when Danny Mills followed up after Keiron Thorp had parried another Malcolm effort.

Lewes fought back though and Callum Donaghey made it 2-1 seven minutes later.

But two quick yellow cards for skipper Chris Breach saw the Rooks down to 10 men soon after – and Mills sealed the points for the home side a minute from time.

A healthy number of away support helped boost the Whitehawk crowd to 485.

Lewes now travel to Wingate & Finchley in a rearranged fixture on Tuesday night, after their game was postponed last Saturday.
