Lewes began their new era under the Garry Wilson-Danny Bloor management regime with an encouraging 1-0 win at AFC Hornchurch yesterday.

A first half goal from new signing Ade Olorunda was enough to take all three points back to Sussex.

The deciding goal came on 18 minutes when Olorunda powered a superb header past Urchins keeper Inigo Echepare following an excellent cross from Jack Walder.

Lewes’ first home game of the season is on Tuesday night when they entertain Hampton & Richmond Borough (7.45),

Peacehaven’s new era as a Ryman League club also started on a positive note with a point earned late on at home to Walton & Hersham in the South Division.

Joe Dryer had put the Tye ahead on 37 minutes before André Scarlett levelled on the stroke of half time for the visitors.

Michael Blount then put the away side ahead with a sensational dipping effort from near the half-way line on 86 minutes.

But Charlie Walker equalised for the hosts moments later when he slipped the ball past Swans keeper Tim Roberts following a move down the left – to earn Peacehaven their first ever point in the Ryman League following their promotion from the Sussex County League as champions last season.

Peavehaven now travel to Worthing on Tuesday night (7.45).
