Piltdown Golf Club enjoyed its annual Summer Event on Saturday.

There was golf for all the family in the afternoon, including unforgettable scenes of the practice area full of tiny tots putting and chipping, followed by a barbecue and an open-air jazz concert.

Earlier in the day, the President’s Prize had been won, in a field of 51, by Simon Bulteel.

The Open Men’s Better Ball on Sunday attracted 52 entries. They came from far and wide, but three of the top five pairs were Piltdown members – thus perhaps raising the old issue of handicap reduction for home advantage?

The winners were Anton Skrypec and Dennis Tyson of Piltdown, with 40 points.

Jim Banting and John Macnamara were second (also 40), and third were David Fleming and Keith Bidwell (39).

A pairs competition played earlier in the week was won by Colin Beesley and Juliet Ross, from Richard Brown and Penny Malloy, and Doug Burgess and Penny Pursey.
