Success for Sussex Revolution Velo Club as Chris Hewitt takes the win in the Master’s E-H race in the first event of the Surrey League Dunsfold Vets series on 4th May. Andy Brown finished in the pack in the Master’s C-D event.

No such luck for Andy Brown and Andy Larking in the E/1/2/3 handicap at the first event of the Hargroves Cycles Southdown Velo Goodwood series on 3rd May, after being held up by a crash caused by the simultaneous 4th category event.

The first event of the Surrey League Dunsfold Park 4ths series was on 6th May. Simon Spalding and Rich Hearle scored points in 8th and 9th. Eddie Bull and Graham Winstanley finished in the pack. Steve Burns and Gary Longmate unfortunately retired after being involved in a crash.

On 7th May Steve Coombs took 10th at the Surrey League 4th category event at Cyclopark. In the 3rd category event a valiant break initiated by Andy Larking fell just short. Larking and Eric DeGolier finished in the pack. Jez Lloyd just behind in his first 3rd category race.

On a sunny 8th May Chris Hewitt, Charlie Deacon, Gavin Jones and Will Fazackerley raced in the South East Road Race League Summer Series event 7 (2/3/4). A strong break with many teams well represented proved to be too much of an ask in what ended up being a very fragmented race. SRVC put in the work to chase but the break took the points.

Elsewhere on the 8th, Eric DeGolier entered the Bec CC Road Race (E/1/2/3, national B) on the gruelling Ladies Mile and Crowborough circuits. No results but a great experience with a strong and experienced field populated by many elites.

The focus this week is on mid-week racing with no local road races scheduled for this weekend
