Sussex rower takes double gold and silver at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships

Lightweight rower Fran Rawlins from Uckfield, won four medals last weekend for England at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships which, this year, took place at Strathclyde Park, near Glasgow.

Francesca, who is currently training with the Leander Club in Henley-upon-Thames in a bid to achieve her ultimate goal of rowing for the GB squad, took two Gold medals over the 1500m distance (lightweight single sculls and, with her partner Pippa Whittaker, open-weight double sculls) and two silver medals in the same disciplines, this time over the 500m distance.
