Rugby returned to Hempstead fields for the first time in 2014 with the acorns hosting bottom of the league Beccehamians.
The home side changes included: Tom Burton at prop, Tyler Smith returning from a nasty dislocated finger at 8, a return to the wing for Gregg Chappell, Jack Newcomb took up his place at 9.
After being involved in a horror tackle last week Martin Chappell has been sidelined for at least 3 weeks with concussion, so the Acorns welcomed back Tom Ward who made his first start in Uckfield’s 1st XV in over a year at 12.
The Acorns had mixed fortunes in the first quarter with the lose of G Chappell to a recurring knee injury, which meant that Tom George took his place on the wing. However great work from the forward pack released quick ball for the backs, Charlie Buckland moved the ball to Toby Keogh who shipped the ball on to Evans who out paced his man to score early on. (5-0)
The rest of the first half was a back and forward affair with mistakes from both sides but The Beccehamians side did construct 2 well taken tries to leave the half time score line at 5-12.
