Lewes Ladies had to overcome a two-goal deficit before finally overcoming bottom of the league Trojans by an ultimately comfortable 6-2 margin.
Struggling Trojans slotted two goals past the slow starting Lewes in the first half, but just before half time Shaney Webb took the ball on a solo mission, beating two defenders and the goalkeeper to net Lewes’ first goal.
They had enough chances during the second half but left it untuil just eight minutes before the end before go finally finding the equaliser again from Webb. Incredibly, with only four minutes left on the clock, Anna Worth then scored three goals and also won a penalty flick that was converted by Sarah Hall.
A fine team performance saw Lewes Men’s 1st XI beat visitors Gore Court 4-1 and move clear at the top of the South Premier League Div 2.
An early mistake by the opposition defence was pounced upon by Matt Hickman and, with an electrifying piece of play, he smashed the ball past the keeper. The Lewes attack kept pressure on and Alex Lickorish scored in the melee after a penalty corner.
Either side of half time the Lewes play stuttered and Gore Court were able to pull one back. But Lewes pulled away with two more, excellent, goals from Dave Roberts and Nicoli Parrington-Berski.
