Playing a friend is never an easy thing

LAST week saw me take on my fellow PDC player and travelling mate, Adrian Gray in the Hastings Premier League.

This was always going to be a tough match, and we were scheduled to play in the last of the four matches on the night.

Sometimes it is hard to play well when you are friends, but the two of us have always had matches of superb quality, and this night wasn't going to alter the trend.

I had the throw, and started off well, taking the first leg, which Adrian then drew level in the next. By the time the break came after the sixth leg, I was leading by a 4-2 margin.

He drew level after the break at six legs all, and then went into the lead for the first time in after the 13th leg, where I'd missed one dart for 32 at 7-6 in his favour, he was to throw first in the last leg.

He started with a 180, then a 140, but when he checked out for the 8-6 win, I was sat on 40, but never got a shot at it.

I was disappointed to have lost, but was happy with how I had played, and everyone watching congratulated us both on a great match.

My stats for the match were 33 scores of 100 or more, and 12x140s. This gave me an average of just short of 90, so I played well, but then so did he.

Other winners on the night were Jim Withers, Shayne Burgess and Neil Blackford.

On to Tuesday, and our Kings Head Horsebridge side were at home to the Kings Head from South Road.

We took a 5-4 win from the match, despite only two of us being present for the first half an hour.

Everyone turned up just in time, and we scraped a win.

No superleague this week, so got a night off on Wednesday. I decided to go and do a good deed for someone, and on the way home I got sideswiped by a 4x4 on the Cophall roundabout. Great, more paperwork, and not to mention some dodgy little courtesy car for a while soon!

As I said last week, my Red Dragon darts are now available to buy from their website.

I have had some great feedback from people about them, and it really gave me a good boost seeing my name alongside many of the greats of the game. All I need now is for people to buy some so that I can benefit from them.
