Ian Gillespie believes Hastings Priory’s cricketers will need to win at least three of their five remaining games to clinch promotion.
Priory currently occupy the second and final Sussex Cricket League Division Two promotion berth, but are only seven points better off than third-placed Worthing.
Fourth-placed Three Bridges are also very much in the equation for a top two finish.
“I think probably we’ve got to win three of our last five games, possibly four,” said first team coach Gillespie.
“The others have got to play each other; we’ve got no-one in the top half left to play, which is a positive thing, but they’re games we’ve still got to win and that’s the difficult thing.”
Priory beat all of their remaining opponents in the first half of the season, but have won just one of their four matches since the midway stage.

“We’ve been inconsistent in the second half and that’s something we’re going to have to put right if we’re going to get ourselves up,” Gillespie continued.
“We’ve certainly got to get back to winning ways. I think consistency is going to be the key thing and making sure we play like we did on Saturday (in the draw at home to Pagham) in every game.
“We know we can play some very good cricket and I think we looked a really good side on Saturday, but we’ve got to make sure we’ve got that consistency.”
Priory are likely to field a similar side to last weekend when they travel to St James’s Montefiore tomorrow (Saturday).
