Siggy's first goal not enough for Lewes
JEAN-MICHEL Sigere's first Rooks goal since returning to the club was not enough in a 2-1 defeat at Staines.
The Frenchman headed the visitors into a 24th minute lead from Dan Royces' free kick.
Lewes were well worthy of their half-time lead but let their concentration slip in the first 15 minutes of the second-half allowing Yabo Mambo to bundle in and then Howard Newton give Stains the lead.
Lewes got back on top but despite chances for Aaron Hopkinson and debutant Scott Ramsey they could not find a leveller they perhaps deserved.
Rooks manager Steve Ibbitson said: "Generally speaking it was an excellent performance in that we were well on top for large spells of the game.
"Their supporters, their players and their board were all saying how unfair it was we didn't get at least something out of it after playing the way we did.
"Other than a mad 15 minutes we were on top, and that's despite us saying that was the most important time to concentrate.
"The players will agree they were school boy goals to concede but after that 15 minutes normal service was resumed and we had our chances towards the end."
