Dane Bjarne returns to the Eagles
Danish international Bjarne Pedersen is returning to the Eastbourne Eagles for the 2013 season.
The Sussex club beat off competition from other Elite League clubs to secure his return to Arlington where he led the Eagles to the league play-offs final in 2011.
The announcement of Pedersen’s signing coincides with the re-launch of the official Eastbourne Eagles website, which can be found at www.eastbourneeagles.co
Co-promoter and team manager Trevor Geer is delighted to have Pedersen back on board. “Bjarne did an excellent job for us in 2011 and our success that year is a matter of record.
“He wanted to come back to the Eagles and we believe he will help us once again to put in a serious challenge for league honours next year.
“Bjarne will be free of commitments around the Speedway Grand Prix and can give his all to the Eagles’ campaign.”
Pedersen joins Adam Shields as two definite starters for Eastbourne when tapes go up in March next year.
Geer hopes shortly to be in a position to make further announcements on the team.
The new-look website, which also includes the club’s official Twitter feed (@EliteEagles), is designed to be a one-stop shop for information about the Eagles. One use of the Twitter feed during the season will be to let fans know straight away if matches involving the Eagles (both home and away) have been called off because of the weather.
*Chris Macdonald is to continue as the club’s commercial manager, it was announced on Saturday.
