Thurrock 3-1 Lewes

LEWES'S fine run of Christmas results has been ended by a 3-1 defeat at Thurrock today (Monday December 28).

Having beaten Eastleigh in the FA Trophy and then stunned second-placed Dover Athletic 6-2 on Boxing Day, The Rooks went into the trip to Essex full of confidence.

And they went into the break all-square at 0-0, but the hosts took the lead on 53 minutes through Bodkin.

Steve Ibbitson's visiting team levelled things up just three minutes later when Jack Walder found the net, but a brace from McKenzie saw Thurrock finish with all three points.

Worcester's shock 1-0 win at Basingstoke sees Lewes drop back into the bottom three although second-bottom Weston-S-Mare lost 2-1 at Woking.

Lewes's next fixture is another league match against Dover Athletic, away on New Year's Day.
