Wheeler and Peauroux battling for fitness ahead of Dover game
LEWES midfielders David Wheeler and Williams Peauroux are doubts ahead of the New Year's Day trip to Dover Athletic in the league.
Both missed training on Wednesday but winger Wheeler - one of The Rooks' best performers this season - is expected to shake off a throat infection in time.
Peauroux is more of a doubt having bruised a toe in the Boxing Day masacre of Dover which forced him out of the 3-1 defeat at Thurrock.
Lewes shocked Dover 6-2 at the Dripping Pan that day, and their 1-0 defeat at home to Chelmsford has seen them slip from second to fifth, but Rooks boss Steve Ibbitson has warned his players they will be in for a far tougher test.
"Talking to their secretary they had a few injury problems on Monday," he said.
"They will know that if they are going to challenge for the play-offs they need to start winning quickly and they will be playing for pride against us.
"They have a good manager and a good side, they didn't show it against us but some of their better players didn't perform so it will be tough."
