The Star Group Celebrates 21 years from Saturday, May 25, to Sunday, June 2.
This year’s exhibition of figurative art is open from Monday to Saturday 10.30am-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm.
Local artist, Hugh Longhurst founded and organised the group in 1992 and named it for its venue at the Star Brewery Studio.
When it moved to the All Saints Centre, it retained the name and its links with the Star Brewery, where it holds its annual exhibition.
Some 15 artists meet weekly for life drawing, working with a range of models.
The group holds its sessions at the All Saints Centre, whose medieval tower provides a unique ambience for artistic work.
Last year it did not exhibit, so visitors to this year’s show will have a bonus of two year’s new work.
The diverse artists work in a variety of media and their show features paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture.
Exhibitors include well-known artists, whose work is regularly featured in Artwave, the Hop and Chalk Galleries, the Crypt, and other venues, as well as newer artists who may be exhibiting for the first time.
