Östersund to Sussex and Back Again, Hop Gallery, Castle Ditch Lane, Lewes, June 9-21.
ÖSTERSUND to Sussex and Back Again is the journey promised in a new exhibition at the Hop Gallery, Lewes.
Sweden-based artist Joseph Davey is returning to England to exhibit again at the Hop Gallery with his mother, Lindy Dunbar who lives and works in Sussex.
Gallery spokeswoman Diana Hitchin said: “The show comprises landscapes, portraits and life drawings, in oil and mixed media. The pair continue to explore similar themes to those expressed in their successful and engaging 2009 show.
“Lindy Dunbar’s work is spontaneous, fluid and very much alive. She celebrates the human form, capturing fleeting tensions and movements of the subject matter with a considered elegance.”
Lindy exhibits both at home and abroad selling regularly. She also tutors in St Andrews Art School, Lewes, and her work is sold in John Lewis. She is a member of the Society of Sussex Painters and The Eastbourne Group of Artists.
“Joseph Davey’s work is loose, free and lively demonstrating his passion for looking through the medium of oil paint. His searching and masterly paintings are sensitively worked and depict light and form with strength.”
He lives and works in Sweden and exhibits and sells regularly in Stockholm and Östersund.
“This mother and son duo exhibit together to observe a professional relationship that has developed alongside the familiar. Their life-long connection echoes through the exhibition as a delicate undertone that’s testament to their relationship, both professional and familiar, but never sentimental.”
The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10.30am-5pm; Sunday 12 noon-5pm; closed Monday; tel: 01273 487744;
