The Mid Sussex Gilbert & Sullivan Society, The World of Gilbert & Sullivan Museum, Oak Hall, Sheffield Park, Sunday, May 27, 2.45pm.
SPOKESMAN William Colbourne said: “Jane Martin, who was principal soprano with The JC Williamson Organisation in Australia in the 1950s will talk to us about her experiences in the Savoy Operas during that period.
The J C Williamson Organisation was licensed by The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company to perform the operas down under and did so very successfully for years.
“After Jane’s talk we will have tea and be able to tour the museum where a number of new exhibits have recently been added by owner Melvyn Tarran. Admission is £3 for members and £8 for non-members. Capacity is limited, so please book your places in advance by sending a cheque and stamped, addressed envelope to our Hon. Treasurer, Mr. Edwin Cowley, at 37 Hill House Close, Turners Hill, Crawley RH10 4YY. Homemade strawberry scones and unlimited tea (to drink) will cost an additional £2 per person, and we are asked to order and pay for this at the same time. Cheques should be made payable to G & S Today.”
