THE LEGENDARY Rock ‘n’ Roller, Joe Brown, returns to the Congress Theatre and tickets are selling fast and previous visits have sold out, so early booking is strongly recommended.
The original rock guitar pioneer, Joe has been a favourite since he first hit the British music scene in the late 1950s. In 2009 he was awarded an MBE and MOJO magazine’s coveted Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.
Known as the guitarists’ guitarist and a consummate showman, he never fails to entertain and impress with his musical ability. A multi-instrumentalist, Joe plays Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle, Ukulele and Melodian onstage. USA Ukulele manufacturer KALA even has a Joe Brown Signature Series of Ukuleles designed in conjunction with Joe and his band.
Rated by fellow musicians including; Mark Knopfler, Keith Richards, Richard Hawley, Jeff Beck and Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. He’s played Glastonbury and Jools Holland’s BBC show on various occasions, packed the Royal Albert Hall for his 50th Anniversary concert and stole the show at the Tribute Concert for his great friend George Harrison.
One of the first UK session men, his early career included playing guitar with Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash and appearing with Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Chuck Berry. He went on to top the charts with his band Joe Brown and the Bruvvers and even had The Beatles open shows for him!
His career has encompassed all aspects of entertainment including; song writing, film, television, radio and West End theatre both as a principal actor and director.
