Direct from CITV, Sooty heads into Worthing for two performances of The Sooty Show on August 30 at the Connaught Theatre.

One of the nation’s favourite bears, Sooty, will be joined by Sweep, Soo and their TV partner Richard Cadell.

Richard has been the hand of Sooty since 1998 and will attempt to keep Sooty from getting up to mischief throughout the show.

The cheeky yellow bear puppet was created by Harry Corbett in 1948 after he had bought the puppet as a present for his son Matthew Corbett.

Harry went on to create and star in Sooty the television show, succeeded by Matthew, who Richard eventually starred alongside, before taking over entirely in 1998 and buying the rights to Sooty ten years later.

The television show, which has remained on screen in various forms since it began, is the longest-running children’s programme in the UK.

The gang’s live show is set on the day of Sooty’s birthday party and preparations for the celebration are not going to plan.

Sooty and Sweep get messy baking the birthday cake and Soo may never decide which dress to wear.

Audiences of all ages can look forward to special guest appearances at the party from legendary Sooty favourites Butch the bulldog and Ramsbottom the snake. There will also be the chance to meet Richard and Sooty after the show.

Richard said: “Izzy Wizzy let’s get busy!

“The Sooty Show is a spectacular mix of magic, music and mess. Guaranteed giggles for Sooty fans old and new!”
