Breakin' Convention is back in Brighton

The critically-acclaimed international festival of hip hop dance theatre Breakin’ Convention is back in Brighton as part of Festival Extra (Brighton Dome Concert Hall, May 27 and 28).

With high energy performances from UK and international companies alongside local Sussex-based crews, the Sadler’s Wells Production – now in its 11th year – is hosted and curated hip hop theatre artist Jonzi D.

The 2014 line-up includes Olivier Award-nominated ILL-Abilities, a group of b-boys who have overcome extraordinary challenges, helping to spread the message. Also featuring is London’s Ukweli Roach, who presents an ensemble performance about temptation and vice.

The south coast is represented on May 27 by Swedish-born Sep Dashti, a break-dancer, popper, choreographer, model and actor who has appeared in television commercials and film.

Breakin’ Convention sees Brighton Dome’s café-bar transformed with live DJs, freestyle dance jams, graffiti exhibitions and workshops from top international artists.
