It may not be coming to the Congress Theatre until January 2015 but the excitement is already building in Eastbourne following the official launch of the sell-out show Dirty Dancing.
This stage version has included Eastbourne in its national tour and the prestigious launch took place at the Birley Centre on August 11.
It was introduced by one of the original producers, Karl Sydow, who gave an insight into how the show came about, while associate choreographer Glenn Wilkinson talked about the choreography.
This was followed by an exceptional dance demonstration by two of the dancers who will be in the show at Eastbourne – Lucy Martin and Falsal Khodabukus.
But this was very much a hands-on launch because, after the demonstration, Glenn got all the invited audience on to the floor. He gave people a real insight into how hard it is to be a show dancer by teaching them the cha cha with several different dance moves.
Dirty Dancing is only visiting 11 locations on the tour and Eastbourne is very lucky to be included. It will play at the Congress Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday, January 13 to 24.
