A collaborative project between three Steyning organisations has been awarded a grant from Arts Council England.
The Steyning Jazz Workshop, which takes place on the weekend of February 22 and 23, is to receive financial support from Grants for the Arts.
Spokesman Gary Prior said: “The three organisers, Steyning Music Society, Steyning Jazz Club and the music department of Steyning Grammar School, are busy preparing for the workshops which will run throughout the day on the Saturday and Sunday, culminating with jazz concerts in the evenings of both days.
“The workshop is open to singers and instrumentalists from age 13 years to adults, who wish to develop their approaches and techniques to playing jazz in small groups and big band settings.
“The tutors for the weekend are drawn from the Jazz Faculty of Chichester College and will be led by composer and saxophonist, Julian Nicholas. The daytime workshops will take place at Steyning Grammar School with the evening concerts being presented at the Steyning Centre.”
Gary added: “The workshop is now open to applications and more information and an application form can be downloaded from the website of Steyning Music Society.”
