At the last showing of Danny’s Comedy Club at the Birch Hotel in Haywards Heath, the audience were queuing out the door to get in.

Half an hour before curtain up the venue was full and by the time the first act took to the stage, there was literally standing room only.

Owner and producer Daniel Kington said; “I knew that we’d truly arrived when the first people attempted to gain entry without paying but to see the wonderful staff at the Birch Hotel grabbing every spare chair in the place until they ran out, was humbling.

“I am so grateful to everyone who has supported the club and given us such warm compliments.”

As Danny’s Comedy Club continues to grow in popularity, plans are afoot to expand the franchise to other towns.

“The support we have had from people in mid-Sussex has encouraged us to bring our successful line-ups to other places as well, something we never dared to hope for when we started. Watch this space.”

A host of experienced comedic talent has been booked for the next show on Friday, September 27, at the Birch Hotel in Haywards Heath.

Multiple award winner Simon Emanuel is a Welsh stand-up comic who is working live all over the UK and Europe.

Since taking up comedy in 2008 Simon has had a successful live career working with some of the biggest names in comedy and appearing at most of the top clubs nationally and internationally.

In 2013 Simon was awarded Welsh Unsigned Stand Up of the Year from which he was selected to support Alan Davies at the prestigious Cardiff Millennium Centre.

Coming directly from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe where once again he enjoyed a sell-out show rated fourth in the Festival’s top ten ‘must see’ performances, is Dave Chawner. Having spent the past year doing the Brighton Festival and the London Fringe Dave has enjoyed a successful year, appearing on television, most recently in BBC’s Celebrity Scissorhands and C4’s The Real Hustle, and as a regular panellist on Loaded TV’s prime time show Lad’s Lit.

Hailing from Birmingham, comedian and TV presenter Jo Coffey’s is one very big talent indeed. In 2012 she presented on Channel 5’s Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, as well as performing at some of the country’s top comedy venues.

Since he began stand up in 2010, Jason Strickland has performed over two hundred gigs at top UK comedy venues, including the Edinburgh Fringe. His stage presence and booming voice engages the audience straight away and he’s not afraid to bring them into his world.

With a very warm and confident stage persona, Gwilum Argos has been a musical comedian since 2007. His act consists of guitar-based songs, often improvised, observations, strange impressions and quirky theories. He has performed well at the Edinburgh Fringe and several times at the Comedy Store in London.

Mel Crosby draws on his experiences working in strip clubs, being married and having kids as a framing device for deeper conspiratorial theories on everything from 9/11 and plutocratic oligarchy to “television for the brain dead”. This gives Mel the chance to win the laughs from not only the weekend crowd but also the more refined comedy audience.

Doors open at 7.30pm with curtain up at 8.30pm. The Club features comfortable, cabaret-style seating, a very reasonably priced bar, good food and ample, free parking onsite. Admission is £5 on the door with tickets also available in advance at the Hotel reception.
