Play on the prom

Mr Punch’s Pleasure Palace, De Le Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, June 20-23.

“MR PUNCH’S Pleasure Palace” is a site-specific community play produced by The Company that promenades around the seafront at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill.

The play was written by Sussex playwright Suzi Hopkins, and is about the building of the De La Warr Pavilion, in 1935. It has a cast of 45, a Punch and Judy, a mini brass band, vintage bikes and a 1920s automobile - this is a show that is bound to have something for everyone!

The performance takes place outside using the prom, the Colonnade and the South Terrace of the De La War Pavilion, as its dramatic backdrop.

The cast also includes three professional actors, including Michael Webber, who has appeared in such films as the Secret of Moonacre and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
