Show offers slicker tribute

Kiss Of The Red Menace offers a tribute to Kander & Ebb (Cabaret, Chicago and All That Jazz) for the Brighton Fringe.

Kerry Jo Hodgkin (aka Melody La Rouge) said: “The show premiered at Brighton Fringe in 2011, but it has undergone a great deal of re-writing/re-working since then and is a much better show for it. This year’s show has undergone a few more tweaks since the 2012 run and is now slicker and more fun than ever.”

It plays Laughing Horse @ The Hobgoblin, 31 York Place, on May 31 and June 1 and 2 at 8.30pm as a free, unticketed show.Ms La Rouge’s Fringe Tour 2013 sets off in Brighton (May), will take in Bedford, London and Buxton (July) and culminate in a two-week run in Edinburgh (August).

A 33 Records recording artist, Kerry has worked on the UK Jazz & Blues scenes for many years, with successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009 and 2010 with her show Jazz Table in the Corner and 2011 with Shades of Blue at the award-winning Jazz Bar.

She has sung everywhere from Ronnie Scott’s in London to BB King’s in New York, she says. However, in 2010 she began to sing on the London cabaret/burlesque scene and loved it – and in 2011 Melody La Rouge was born.
