10th year of local music celebration in Bexhill

Bexhill Festival of Music will be celebrating its 10th year in 2016.

The event began in 2007 with Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine as its major stars, and the festival has been growing and becoming increasingly popular ever since.

Next year’s programme is beginning to take shape according to organiser Tony Mansi who is thrilled with names already confirmed but keen to include local musical events as part of the programme.

He said: “We are honoured to have The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returning for a fourth year with works by Tchaikovsky, Smetana and Rachmaninov featuring the winner of the prestigious Hastings Piano Competition.  We will also be seeing the return of the very popular Magic of the Musicals and the Last Night of the Bexhill Proms. All Bexhill-based community groups, charities, choirs, businesses, colleges and schools are invited to be part of this 10th Anniversary Celebration. If you are holding a musical event during the period June 2-July 3 2016 we will include you in our Festival brochure free of charge. Please contact [email protected] for further information.”
