A Levels: St Wilfrid’s make-up artist celebrates results

A St Wilfrid’s School make-up artist has celebrated her A Level results.

Alice Hardy, 18, who got As in Art, English Literature and Spanish, will study Make-up and Production in Films at the London College of Fashion.

Alice, of Mannings Heath, Horsham, who has been in charge of make-up for her school’s theatre productions for five years, hopes to work in films, television, theatre or operas. She said: “I didn’t really feel like I wanted to do an academic course.

“I just really enjoyed it [the subject] when I was doing it at school.

“You have to understand a lot about different plays, it’s all about character development.”

Alice received her grades at school with her mother, Karen, who teaches English at St Wilfrid’s, Crawley,and older sister, Jennifer, 23.

Alice said: “I was really pleased, I wasn’t expecting it at all.

“I came out of my Spanish exam and I was basically crying.

“It went really well happily.”

She chose not to check if she made her university offer on the internet before she left home.

She was confident she met the offer of three Cs at A Level. She said: “I knew I didn’t have very high entry grades for uni.

“My sister didn’t do it.”
