The choir’s music director is the international opera singer Andrew Rees.

Coro Nuovo came together to broaden the traditional spectrum of music sung by many choirs and introduce some challenging pieces alongside.

The choir consists of top singers from all over the South East, many of whom are soloists in their own right but who all enjoy the experience of singing together.

So far the choir have covered most genres from opera, early folk, musical theatre and modern. This concert boasts some great movie themes from Amadeus to Sister Act.

The choir’s other aim is to feature a young musician at their concerts with the idea of enabling them to get valuable exposure by performing to a large audience. This concert is no exception.

Coro Nuovo are delighted to welcome violinist Corey Wickens, 20, who graduates from the Royal Northern College this summer before embarking on a solo career. Corey’s parental home is Burgess Hill and she attended Hurstpierpoint College.

The choir has a big ambition – to be able to offer a Bursary for an aspiring performer and hopefully with future sponsorship that will happen.

Just very recently Hurstpierpoint College agreed to sponsor Coro Nuovo’s young musicians for the next concerts.

Tickets are £15 or £12.50 and they are going quickly. People can either buy online at www.coronuovo.org.uk or call Kate on 07740 946276.

The ticket price increases to £15 in June.
