Already midway through the organ concert series

There are composers alive today who write music for venerable instruments like the Father Willis in All Saints Church, Hastings.

We heard several pieces not in the usual organ repertoire. The most striking was by James Macmillan who wrote a gentle plainsong theme adorned by birdsong, reminiscent of Messiaen.

And the performer? Tim Byram-Wigfield from All Saints, Margaret Street in London.

Loud enthusiastic applause brought forth an encore from Walton’s Facade Suite to send us whistling on our way.

On Monday 4th August we shall be entertained by Tom Bell and Richard Brasier playing Organ duets. It will be fascinating to watch on the video screen how they keep out of each other’s way.

There will be a World Premier of a piece by Aulich.

The concert begins at 7.30 pm, tickets at £8 are at the door, and refreshments are available during the interval.
