An eclectic mix of music for charity

From 12pm-1am, the venue will play host to 15 bands over 13 hours offering an eclectic mix of music to raise money for Oxfam.

Oxjam began in 2006, with the aim of creating a network of music-loving people across the UK, all united by a shared goal - to raise money to fight poverty and suffering around the world. Six years on, it’s still going strong, with hundreds of gigs taking place each October.

Oxjam Savannah is the first Oxjam event to come to Haywards Heath, but Oxjam gig-maker Jen Mudd, has run three Oxjams in her previous home of Dorking, Surrey.

“I first volunteered to run an Oxjam music event after seeing an advert on Facebook one night,” Jen said. “I’ve always enjoyed raising money for different charities and due to my love of music this just seemed like the perfect fit, so I signed up. Over the past three years I’ve raised just over £2,000 for Oxfam and have always been so overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community and businesses that support the events.”

The line-up is 12.15-12.45 – Kru; 13-13.30 - Patrick McCord; 13.45-14.15 - Allan Bailey; 14.30-15 - The Rawbones; 15.15-15.45 - Mark Ben Wilson; 16-16.30 - Will Mavin; 16.45-17.15 - Sarah Jane Weston Trio; 17.30-18 - Old Friends; 18.15-18.45 - Are-D-R; 19-19.30 - Jen Mudd; 19.45-20.15 - Ian Cockburn; 20.30-21.15 – VinylZoo; 21.30-22.15 - The Salts; 22.30-23.15 - Hectors House; 23.30-00.45 - Stephanie Davies & The Super Dynamics.

Jen continued: “The line-up is really exciting because there really is something for everyone.

“We’ve got jazz, punk, soul, rock, bluegrass, folk, Irish-shanty and acoustic.

“I appreciate that there are perhaps no local regulars on here, but we were keen to bring a some new musical talent into Haywards Heath so we’ve got bands from Brighton to Guildford joining us for the day.”

The event will be ticketed and you can buy a wristband from Savannah Cafe Bar now, or on the day for £5. All money raised from wristband sales will go directly to Oxfam. Facebook: www.facebook.com/OxjamSavannah
