Archie Norris, The Venuu, 8.30pm Thursday November 4, free entry to Appleyard Studios showcase

You know a musician is young when he cites Nick Jonas as an early inspiration.

And Archie Norris is really young - 11 years old in fact - but even so this promising singer songwriter is about to release his first album and will perform live at the Venuu on Thursday November 4.

Archie first picked up the guitar when he was nine years old and pretty soon wrote his first song. Two years on he has polished his skill and is writing songs that are not only professional in approach but also contagiously catchy.

He was inspired to play by watching the Jonas Brothers and in particular Nick Jonas. He also found inspiration from his guitar teacher Jeff Topp who helped develop his talent as a guitar player but also built up his confidence as a young musician. Later Jeff worked as his producer.

Archie’s first album I’m Moving On shows a sample of the potential Archie has as

a musician and songwriter. Otherwise he is just like every other 11 year old, who enjoys playing cricket and loves the latest gadgets, but he is very fortunate to have the encouragement of supportive parents who have also been involved in music and theatre. His mum was a professional singer and actress in the West End and father is still an active musician.

Jeff commented: “For someone so young, he knows exactly what he wants from his music and how fortunate he is to be given the talent he possesses.”

This has spurred Archie on to want to help others less fortunate than himself and has pledged to donate proceeds of his album sales to The Royal Marsden, a charity his school has close ties with.

The showcase at the Vennuu is a free event and will include three other artists working with Appleyard Studios.Email info@appleyardstudios.co.uk for more information
