Bexhill and Battle Labour Party

BEXHILL and Battle Labour Party supports the setting up of a Bexhill Town Council, as Rother District Council is increasingly distant from the needs of Bexhill.

This was the decision taken at Bexhill and Battle Labour Party meeting, held at Traffers Restaurant on January 19.

Mark Sivyer, a former Rother councillor, told the meeting: "The inability of Rother District Council even with a Conservative-controlled county council to achieve the most basic regeneration of Bexhill is all too evident with the redevelopment of Devonshire Square from something useful to something almost useless a prime example.

"The latest proposals for the seafront again highlight this council's inability to convince the public about their vision for the future."

Bexhill and Battle Labour Party believes that Bexhill deserves a greater say in its future development to help halt the decline in its town centre and bring greater benefits to Bexhill residents, and feels that a town council could promote this much-needed progress.
