Bexhill and District Probus Club

SEVENTY members, wives and guests attended our annual Christmas Lunch on December 20 at what is now becoming our regular venue, the Cooden Beach Golf Club.

As ever, the club's catering staff provided an excellent repast and together with pleasant surroundings and convivial company everyone present enjoyed the event.

The proceedings came to a close with our president and social secretary, Graham Ellery, and his wife, Barbara, being presented with gifts on behalf of all members for their sterling service to the club.

As chairman Dennis Davis said when making the presentations, without Graham's hard work over the past few years both as honorary secretary and chairman, Bexhill Probus Club would not exist today, at least not in it's present format. During this time he has received great help from Barbara not least in her unique raffle ticket selling technique!

Our next meeting on Thursday ,January 24 will see the return of RDC Chief Curator Julian Porter with a talk on Bexhill's motoring heritage.

Yes, the town has a notable motoring story to tell stretching back to 1902 and continuing to the present day.

Our annual meeting will follow on February 28 when for the first time it will feature a speaker, Sandy Campbell Director of Frogmorton Trust who will cover such subjects as investments, inheritance tax, long-term care etc. Mr Campbell will be available after the meeting to discuss member's financial affairs in private without charge or obligation.

New members are always welcome. Come and try us out, again without charge or obligation! We meet on the fourth Thursday of the month, 10.00am at Bexhill Conservative Club on Amherst Road.
