Bexhill Art Society

THE society held its regular meeting on Saturday, October 2 at St Augustine's Church hall. After the usual club business was completed, we were treated to a demonstration of landscapes in pastels by Geof Thorpe. Geof is a most able and amusing speaker as well as a skilled artist. He introduced us ot special materials and techniques which even our more dedicated pastelists may not have bene familiar with and certainly tempted others amongst us who had never seriously considered the medium to try our hands at it. His final plea was: 'Enjoy painting.'

Vice chairman Dave Mills moved a vote of thanks and the enthusiastic response was a mark of how much the afternoon had been enjoyed.

The Artist of the Month was Eunice Lown, who showed us her excellent flower paintings.

The monthly competition was At The Circus, for which there were no entries at all. Perhaps it’s such a long time since any of us went to a circus!

The next meeting of the society will be on November 4 at St Augustine’s Church Hall, in Cooden Drive, at 2.30pm, when the guest speaker will be Paul Howard demonstrating landscape techniques with Derwent pencils.
